Gastroenterology / Digestive Health at SiliconAlso known as a GI (gastrointestinal) specialist, this physician is trained to perform such procedures as colonoscopies and upper GI endoscopies. These procedures allow the physician to visualize the upper and lower part of the gastrointestinal tract to check for unusual ulcers, tumors, polyps and blood vessels. General Surgery at SiliconGeneral surgeons perform surgeries such as: laparoscopies, cholecystectomies, incision and drainage of abscesses, hernia repair, breast biopsy, anorectal surgery, and laceration repair. Gynecology at SiliconGynecologists monitor the health of the female reproductive system. Orthopaedic Surgery at Silicon and BascomThe orthopaedic surgeon is concerned with acute, chronic, traumatic and recurrent injuries as well as other disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Our orthopaedic surgeons do the following procedures: arthroscopic surgery of shoulders and knees, open and closed reduction of dislocations and fractures and arthrodesis (surgical fixation of a joint to promote bone fusion), to name a few. Otolaryngology (ENT) at SiliconOtolarygologists, referred to as Ear, Nose, and Throat, or ENT, deals with the diagnosis and treatment of the ear, larynx (throat), nose and upper respiratory tract. Often ENT's are trained in facial, cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. The ENT physicians at our center perform functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), sinuplasty, tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. Pain Medicine / Spine Procedures at Silicon and BascomThis specialty is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and pain syndromes, typically of the spine. Pain medicine specialties are usually either anesthesiologists or physiatrists and sometimes orthopedic surgeons. They may serve as a consultant to other physicians or act as the principal treating physician. The pain medicine specialists at our centers typically provide epidural injections of the spine with pain reducing agents, placement of epidural electrodes for spinal cord stimulation, and selective nerve root blocks, to name a few.
